Update Thirteen – Rome, Italy

After flying from Mexico City via Cancun to Frankfurt we make it to Rome! With much excitement as it is on my #1 list places to visit (I have a few of them).

Staying at a B&B near Vatican City we set out to explore on foot and occasionally took the metro. We spent 3 days roaming through the city visiting all the major sites and some museums. From the Vatican museum and colosseum to strolling through Villa Bourghese, drinking coffee (Italian style, which means not much of it and standing at a counter or else you get charged a sitting fee). The Italians take coffee and food seriously, from espresso and pastry in the morning to the never ending pasta and pizza restaurants…. but for me after being in Latin America for 2 months….I have to say I miss the coffee and food. Hence every morning we would take the horrible pasteries served to us at the B&B and give it to the homeless people around the Vatican.

Unfortunately  our jet lag was making us a bit lethargic and by 4pm we wanted to sleep, not even another espresso could help. By the end of the 3 days we had visited everything on the list and even managed to find a gluten free restaurant for Oliver.

Next, we rent a little Fiat 500L and head off tov Tuscany where we will spend the rest of out time before returning to Rome and flying out to Istanbul.
