We arrived in Guanajuato after a 4 hour car ride from Mexico City. It was crowded, noisy with an abundance of stray dogs! But once we got out and started to walk around the charm of the city set in. A UNESCO world heritage site full of tunnels, alley ways and narrow streets. It’s a colourful university town with great restaurants, coffee, chocolate and we even managed to find a great artesanal Italian gelato. We roamed around trying to find hiking trails, which is difficult considering we are surrounded by hills. In the end we managed two good hikes in the area (Cerro de la Bufa and Santa Cruz). back to the DF (Distrito Federal/Mexico City) tomorrow for some much needed sleep as the stray dogs here don’t leave you in peace.
